About Me
I am Dave Shields, the co-author with Philippe Charles, of Jikes, a Java sourcecode to bytecode compiler that was IBM's first open-source project.
I was then at IBM Research, but left Research in 2003 to join the team that manages IBM's activities in open-source.
I currently work for the Linux Technology Center (LTC) in the Systems & Technology Division.
On my own time I volunteer to help promote the use of open-source to help educators in their vital mission.
