Such and similar data gathered throughout the entire ohloh project would be useful for a number of applications, from ads to research, to events, groups and so on. Might be worth to think into that ... [More] direction at some point. I don't see privacy concerns given such data would be provided by the users. [Less]

Or, when you search for the project to see if it's already listed, and fail to find it, the results page also asks you to create a new project.

I added it but feel free to modify it. For the record, when you add/modify the code's source, ohloh will attempt to connect right away and if the address is wrong (as in your first trial), it will ... [More] tell you so. If you were successful, ohloh will tell you something about the next step of source code analysis pending... So you know right away if you entered a working address. [Less]

I've been trying for the past 2 days to add a new project and it always fails when submitting the form. No specific error is given. This problem is browser and OS independent. I noticed the new ... [More] "Project Manager" option at the end of the form: I didn't have problems before that one showed up. Could it be related? [Less]

I'm not sure if I get your question right. Did you mean if it exists in the ohloh directory? The search (for projects) function comes up with "HyperScope", to be found here: ... [More] http://www.ohloh.net/projects/hyperscope At the time of this writing, their own site seemed to have some problems but that's nothing that couldn't be solved temporarily with a quick Google search for cached pages and other sites about the same software. dartar, I think your ohloh description at Wikipedia is very good as it allows for both free and commercial services for as long as there is open source code; that is for as long as there is code to ... [More] get one's hands on. Given ohloh's main feature of analyzing source code, in my opinion it doesn't make much sense to allow any closed project onboard. That would turn ohloh into a software database but how to confirm the people's claim that they are involved? That might proove impossible for some cases and raise disputes over who wrote what in the first place and so on... [Less]
