Kubuntu is a a user friendly operating system based on KDE, the K Desktop Environment. With a predictable 6 month release cycle and part of the Ubuntu project, Kubuntu is the GNU/Linux distribution for everyone.
Phonon is the multimedia framework used by KDE and Qt. Developed originally by KDE to replace the aging aRts, Phonon was adopted by Qt in verson 4.4.0 as its official multimedia framework. Since then, Phonon releases have been interleaved between KDE and Qt
Using thisKCM you can configure the default graphics system backend to be used by Qt right from within KDE's System Settings application.
