+1 from me as well. After svn and cvs I suspect Mercurial is not too far behind git as the most popular version control system.

@Jason: Oh yeah, its narrow. =) python-dev does not use it very often, I just know it has been used that way before. I think you are right and that code search is just not needed.

I just noticed that the last logged commit for Python is from May 13. I know there was a commit as recently as June 19. The enlistment page said that the download failed. The link for the anonymous ... [More] svn checkout looks correct (the project history does not show a change to the enlistment). I don't know why the download would fail, though, as we have not received a single report of a failed checkout of the code recently. [Less]

For developers of open source frameworks, it can be helpful in determining how widely used a feature is. This can come into play when deciding whether the feature can safely be deprecated or not. It ... [More] can also be used in ammunition when someone comes along and complains that a feature going away is used a lot by them. Having hard numbers saying that the rest of the world doesn't use it is handy. But I personally use Google Code search so I personally don't see why you guys need to add it. Maybe you can just have a Google Code search box or something to make it simple if demand keeps up for the feature. [Less]

I was chatting with a friend of mine over the phone last night and pointed him at Ohloh. While we were talking he started poking around trying to figure out what the largest project was and how that ... [More] compared in terms of estimated total value. We thought it might be cool to have a bar graph or something that showed the top N (with N being 10, 20, 25, or arbitrary; whatever) projects for a certain stat. So a bar graph showing LOC so you could see not only who was the largest project for that stat but also by how much compared to others in a visual fashion. Figured it would be fun to see stuff like that. Anyway, still love the site and keep up the great work! [Less]

Kudos on the feature. Really handy for the projects (e.g., Python) who moved their entire repository over to svn and subsequently changed a lot of user accounts along the way.

Immediately after getting my account I went through and stacked every FLOSS project I knew that I used on a regular basis. Unfortunately I ran into two that are not in the project list. I almost ... [More] submitted the projects myself, but I was not sure if that was considered considerate since the project developers might not want it listed here for some reason (don't know why, though). Is it considered common courtesy to not submit projects you are not directly involved with? Or is it okay to submit any project as long as you try to provide accurate information? [Less]
