I figured this out for my converted projects: Go to your profile page. Under 'Experience' in your profile page, click the 'Edit' link next to the converted project. Change your 'Committer name' in ... [More] the 'Project' section to your new name. It autocompletes, so it's easiest just to type the first few letters and select the right one from the dropdown.
