Hi, I'm getting notifications for forum topics that I haven't posted for a long time ago. I don't want to turn off the feature, since I want to track threads in which I recently posted. Could you at ... [More] least notify the participants in a thread only if they posted in last, say, 10-20 posts? That would decrease the spam from threads such as "How often does ohloh update a repository?" Above thread turned into central posting spot for everyone requesting rescheduling of their project, and its contents are completely uninteresting to most of the people that posted there after the first week since they went there. Not to mention it's annoying to receive posts from thread with such a title, when the discussion went into a completely other direction. (While at it, shouldn't that thread be closed and all discussion redirected elsewhere?) Spam from above thread is getting annoying, and since I post on the forum every now and then, I really wouldn't want to turn off the notification feature. Summary Of The Rant(tm): If I posted in 20 latest posts of thread -- notify me, else don't. :) [Less]

Any kind of shortening of URLs is a good idea. Not to mention that internal Ohloh links are shorter and as a result pages have less bytes. Besides, the old URL still works and redirects to new one, doesn't it? :)

Cheers, another small thing; I tagged the post with YATC while in the title section, and it was spit out with the link included. Probably you should mop up any HTML before outputting the title ... [More] section in RSS :) So, I find only two bugs: HTML entities showing up in text that includes apostrophes, and HTML code in title where there shouldn't be any. Otherwise, once again I'll say: this stuff works great and rocks :=] [Less]

Hi! Thanks, it looks great! That leaves only one thing; it's somewhat unrelated, but I'll grab the chance to prod you on that one too. I've broken nightly build system for glict becomes I%apos;ve ... [More] broken nightly build system for glict (% being &) This happens in this RSS feed: http://www.ohloh.net/p/yatc/messages.rss It happens across several browsers. Something wrong with HTML escaping routines? :) [Less]

Dearest Ohloh developers! I am using this opportunity to perform an ancient technique I learned many years ago, during my meditation and training on the hills of my homeland. I am using this ... [More] opportunity to poke you once again for status information on implementing separation of title from content in journals. Any information on progress will be greatly appreciated. Information on positive progress will be magnificently appreciated. Thank you, Wise Ones! :) [Less]

I would presume it's just a localized version of Debian. Google Translate provides more insight. Canaima is a GNU / Linux distribution based on Debian Venezuelan emerging as a solution to meet the ... [More] needs of end users office of the National Public Administration (APN) and to comply with the presidential decree no. 3390 on the use of Open Technologies in APN. They probably localized, set up the desktop properly, paid for testing and added a few additional tools required for use in their government. Otherwise, I recommend you try Google-Translating their official site like I did to find additional information. [Less]

Ah yes, the "4.4 <=> 4.6" error? I hit that one as well few days ago, that's when I noticed that Ohloh didn't catch up. I fixed the repository at that point. I believe however that I used the ... [More] repository in the meantime, I think Ohloh last caught revision 98 and I committed a few in the meantime. Ah well, main thing is it'll get updated now ;) [Less]

It's extremely difficult to spread free software. Here in Croatia, Microsoft has strong ties with politics, and the attitude of politicians is approximately: "Microsoft is very kind in giving us free ... [More] software." How can you effectively fight such attitude coming from the highest levels? They are the ones who, in the end, have far more access to greater amount of "unwashed masses". They are the ones who decide to enforce programs such as ECDL among teachers. Those programs base themselves around Microsoft's software. My sister in chemistry school is being taught how to work with Microsoft Access, and is taught about Microsoft SQL, IBM Informix and Oracle being used in professional environments. That may be true, but where are Postgres and MySQL? It's easy to say you need to start from the root, but how to get to the root? How to change teachers who are nowhere near being IT professionals? If they are IT professionals, how to change their rooted perspectives? How to change politicians? How to change professors at universities if they believe that Microsoft is the Source, the Alpha and the Omega? We really need practical directives and we really need a World Domination Plan(tm). Without one, we can speak all we want, but we can't affect anyone. By the way, it's more important to spread free software than open source :) [Less]

Hi, The Outcast development HAS ceased, but I made a few commits after the last one Ohloh recorded. Could you reschedule a download? It probably isn't good that Ohloh gives up completely because ... [More] the server (our Tornado in this case) is unstable. It can run for a few months without going down, but a power failure can easily bring it out of operation which may take as long as two days to fix (nobody around the office etc) Hope this helps :) [Less]
