      <body>Between becoming a new home owner and expectant dad my padre and related efforts have taken a back foot. Recently I have concentrated on the local network transport for Swarm in IO-Socket-Multicast. New releases of [IO-Socket-Multicast] will hopefully address some of the build issues with windows platforms - and I can happily announce/admit to a successful field test of Swarm on an office network.</body>

      <body>Back online and killing leaks in a second pass on a public Swarm::Server using AnyEvent and json over the wire. Hopeful that a functional swarm service will be available by end of october. This combined with the multicast transport should address the zero configuration goal I have for swarm participants and big fun can then commence.</body>

      <body>I was originally against running a dedicated public server for Swarm. after xperiencing XMPP in the raw.. the latest thinking is that the XMPP transport will be left as an implementation exercise for someone else. Swarm will ship with the local Multicast transport an one to connect to the public swarm. </body>

      <body>=title The Buzz around #Padre
Several 'features' of the under development Padre-Plugin-Swarm have been taken out and used as the foundation for branches/Padre-Taskmanger which I hope to land on trunk eventually.

The changes to taskmanager will allow Padre::Service , as subclass of Padre::Task to provide a way to control and communicate with code running in a task thread. </body>

      <body>Some of the more wild and inappropriate suggestions offered so far for Padre-Plugin-Swarm in no particular order would be ; chat , remote task/process sharing , asteroids, anti-pacman (4 ghosts vs pacman ) , collaborative editing , document radar, instant VCS notify ;</body>

      <body>added Padre::Service to #Padre by ripping experimental bits from Padre-Plugin-Swarm. Swarm is an idea bank and sandbox for padre development considered just too manifestly evil to live elsewhere. @adamk added the ground rules in Padre::Plugin::Swarm and left the area open.</body>
