What's with using /p/ in place of /projects/ in Ohloh URLs?

Why did you change from using human readable and easy to understand URLs like http://www.ohloh.net/projects/git to cryptic current http://www.ohloh.net/p/git? This is in my opinion stupid idea.

I can understand goind from /projects/ to /project/, but not to /p/

Any kind of shortening of URLs is a good idea. Not to mention that internal Ohloh links are shorter and as a result pages have less bytes.

Besides, the old URL still works and redirects to new one, doesn't it? :)

Not any kind of URLs shortening. Not the unnecessary kind: first, the URL is not that long that it needs shortening; second it makes URL less readable, which goes contrary to for example replacing project numbers by their "shortnames".

I'd rather have redirection in the opposite direction...
