In GCstar, a collection is described in a .gcm file. It is an XML file that contains every piece of information required to know how to manage this kind of collection.
It has not been announced before, but Srecko Toroman did a great work and
... [More]
created an XML schema to validate the .gcm files. It is referenced in all of the default collections provided with GCstar since 1.2.0.beta1. It is located here:
http://www.gcstar.org/schemas/gcm-revision3.xsd
Then you may use it to validate the collections you would create and like to be integrated in GCstar's deliveries. [Less]

The format used by versions above 1.2.0 (this includes all the beta releases) has slightly changed. Then it is impossible to open a collection saved with one of these versions with the previous ones (1.1.1 and below).
The attached file is a
... [More]
tool to convert the collections so older versions may be able to use them. There is no need for the opposite tool as GCstar 1.2.0 can open old collections without any problem.
Its usage is quite easy. If you just launch it with a collection (.gcs file) as its argument, it will output on the standard output the converted file. You may also specify -o option followed by a file name where the output will be written. The last option is -i. It will do inplace modifications. So the input file will be modified. A backup is created with ~ appended to the file name. [Less]
