Keep the Balance - The Product Owner

What role does a Product Owner have?
Scrum is counted as an iterative and incremental process used for product development and the organization of teams. The classical roles and structures are actually replaced by this procedure method through ... [More] agile and transparent sequences. There result some new roles from this method. One of them is the role of the person responsible for a product, which is –in scrum jargon- called the Product Owner. This first part is about the Product Owners’ tasks, responsibilities and personal capabilities. A second article will appear in the next magazine regarding the role of the Scrum Master, which is also a new role resulting from this new procedure.
Scrum is based on simple rules, as is every other agile method, and for that very reason easy to understand. But still it requires a high amount of discipline at the same time.

Multifarious - The Scrum Master

**Scrum gets more and more common as an agile method for the management of projects. Those who want to use the model of Scrum successfully should first take a closer look at the description of the three roles and not mistake the Scrum Master with a ... [More] Team Leader.

As owner of the second important role in a project team that works with Scrum, the Scrum Master communicates between the Product Owner and the Team.
He moderates conflicts and takes obstacles that might interfere with the work of the team out of the way.
The Scrum Master is not only responsible for the success of a project; he is more likely required to ensure the rules of Scrum.**

Team Spirit in Scrum

The role of the development team
Neither the budget nor the strategies or techniques are responsible for successful IT-projects. The successful realization goes hand in hand with the collaboration of the development team.

Team ... [More] spirit
As the last two tutorial parts of Scrum ([1], [2]) showed, this agile method for software development knows three significant roles. The Product Owner is responsible for giving and prioritizing the requirements and with that making a product backlog. The Scrum Master is responsible for the abidance of the Scrum rules and clears out any kind of impediment that would disturb the work of the team. The third role plays the development team – in the following just called team.
All three roles make up the Scrum team which should not be mistaken with the development team.

Teams that work with Scrum are self-organized. But this self-organization is not equal to democracy. Dependent on the time of the project, the experiences and the knowledge of individuals a “leader” develops. The leading of a team is not mandatory, but results from a combination of asking and capabilities of all participants that work together in interdisciplinary teams.

A self-organized unit...
