The first non-game software that I've come across that's actually fun to use.
One of the open source killer apps. Even better than Firefox (flame on >:)).
It's just a music player but still it's packed with features, my favorite ones are Cover Manager (fetches album covers from Amazon), MusicBrainz integration (fetches ID3 from musicbrainz), last.fm integration, and artist relations in Context Browser.
Also there's a wealth of scripts and addons for it (and it's fairly easy to write your own scripts too).

I have never found such an intuitive and feature-reach media player.
The integration with last.fm or magnatune is absolutely fantastic.

While Amarok may currently be looking up to products such as Windows Media Player or Winamp 3, that is precisely what is taking me away from it. Simplest solutions are usually the best ones, such as XMMS / Winamp2.
Personally, I don't need a wealth of options regarding a media library; I can use another piece of software if I need that. In a media player, I'm looking for a fast startup time, and quick playing of a song, a bit of
