Yubikey plugin vulnerability patched

It has come to my attention that there was a critical oversight in the Yubikey authentication plugin. If a Yubikey was paired with a different user's account, it was basically possible to log into any Yubikey-enabled account you wanted by entering ... [More] that username along with a valid OTP. Pretty sad. That's been fixed, and the download links are automatically up to date because they point to the latest version in Mercurial.

1.0.6pl4 tarballs updated

It has come to my attention that the tarballs for Enano 1.0.6pl4 in fact contained 1.0.6pl1. This was determined to be a Mercurial mistake on my part (I forgot to specify -r to hg archive). The tarballs have been updated; please redownload Enano 1.0.6pl4 if you have downloaded it since the 11th.

The Enano project announces the immediate availability of Enano 1.0.6pl4 and 1.1.8pl1, which fix various XSS and CSRF vulnerabilities. Release notes are in the usual places, as are downloads.
Note that TinyMCE is not present in 1.1.8pl1. Use the TinyMCE plugin.

Merger with Joomla

The Enano project is extremely pleased and excited to announce a development that will greatly improve Enano as a product in the future. Today we announce a merger with Joomla, a leading open source PHP/MySQL CMS.
The project will get the ... [More] super-Web 2.0 name Enoomla. We hope to integrate Enano's plugin system, installer, ajax page editing and wiki style structure with Joomla's amazing, innovative and extremely colorful admin menu. At the Enoomla Usability Summit this summer, the Enoomla project will have a 3-day code-a-thon during which we will be adding support for ACLs and Joomla themes to Enoomla.

Enoomla will use Joomla's infrastructure as it is larger than Enano's; however we will be retaining the use of Mercurial as our SCM. [Less]
TinyMCE removal from core

With the recent release of the GUI Editor plugin, the Enano team has been confronted with a pressing problem, and we want to query the public before making a decision.

For some time now, Enano has bundled TinyMCE with its core. Many new ... [More] users enjoy this, but we are working to provide the GUI Editor plugin with the same level of intuitiveness, albeit with more intimate integration with Enano's features. In the mean time, TinyMCE does not integrate with Enano's file upload facilities, arguably one of the most important features of a GUI editor, and it has received very little attention from developers because we all write our pages in wikitext. Thus the question: is it time to remove TinyMCE from Enano?
The reasons against this are as follows:

We have just released our final beta. As the page editor is an important core feature, this will call for another beta release.
TinyMCE's interface is more polished than that of the GUI editor plugin.
The GUI editor plugin would have to be integrated directly into the core of Enano, or distributed as a plugin and bundled with the core package. Integration would need to be much tighter - every textarea that will be treated as wikitext should have the GUI editor enabled.

The reasons in favor:

Wikitext is Enano's "native" format - pages written in wikitext almost universally display properly under any theme. By moving TinyMCE out of the core, we are ensuring that wikitext is emphasized as the format to store and display pages with.
The GUI Editor plugin already integrates better than TinyMCE ever did as far as image embedding goes. Universality is not quite there yet.
There are licensing and packaging concerns surrounding TinyMCE which are blocking Enano's integration into mainstream Linux distros' package managers.

The Enano team announces the release of Enano 1.0.6pl3, 1.1.7pl2, and 1.1.8. This is a simultaneous release in response to a pair of vulnerabilities reported by High Tech Bridge SA, including one rather major SQL injection hole. Enano 1.1.8 is the ... [More] third beta-quality release in our ongoing development of Enano 1.2.0 "Caoineag." We strongly recommend that all users upgrade to the appropriate patch-level release for their branch, and 1.1.x users should aim for 1.1.8.

GUI Editor Plugin: Now in Beta

I'm pleased to announce a new plugin that is ready for testing: the GUI Editor. It adds the ability to point and click your way through basic wiki-formatting. This is part of a major undertaking to improve usability for new Enano users. Currently ... [More] this plugin will only run on the very latest nightly builds of Enano.
We would like a lot of beta testing and feedback on this plugin, as eventually I hope it will trade places in the core with TinyMCE, so that TinyMCE becomes a plugin and this editor plugin is bundled with Enano out of the box.

Also note that this is not a WYSIWYG editor. Those are too hard to deal with because you have to maintain perfect backward and forward conversion between wikitext and HTML. [Less]
BitNami Linux installer supports OS X too!

I'm pleased to announce that the BitNami module installer for Linux now runs under OS X as well. It was tested on a PowerPC G5 running Leopard and MAMPStack, and should work on Intel systems too. We've also made a version of the BitNami module ... [More] installer for Unix that sets up a full-fledged Enano development environment from Mercurial using mkenanodev.
