<p><a href="/accounts/t_weber">t_weber</a> says: Created MySQL5InnoDBDialectUTF8 (extending the default &lt;a href='http://www.ohloh.net/projects/hibernate'&gt;hibernate&lt;/a&gt; MySQL5InnoDBDialect) for &lt;a href='http://www.ohloh.net/projects/pulse'&gt;pulse&lt;/a&gt; due to various encoding problems with &lt;a href='http://www.ohloh.net/projects/mysql'&gt;mysql&lt;/a&gt; on managed servers which forces table creation with InnoDB engine and UTF-8 encoding.
