Everyone likes mutt. I don't know of another highly configurable terminal based e-mail client so it's mutt or nothing by default.

I sure wish it would use non-blocking IO for things like IMAP and POP though, then it wouldn't freeze on start-up every time whilst it checks my servers and permanently lock up from time to time.
