Nooku

We are using Koowa to build the next generation social platform for web. It's called Anahita Social Engine (anahitapolis.com).

We are one of the initial converters to Koowa. It saved our life and our business. We love Joomla as a platform but when it gets to framework, it doesn't provide much tools and makes your code just messy. Now with Koowa we have the power of a DRY, Agile but Robust framework that just does everything right, that coupled with the Joomla platform we have can build anything on the web in a fraction of time.

Koowa+Joomla gave us the MVC and Content Mangement Framework that we've always wanted to develop the Anahita Social ™ Engine project http://www.Anahitapolis.com

Drupal and Wordpress severely lacked a solid software development framework. Many PHP MVC frameworks lacked any sort of the higher level functionalities such as CMS, Template Engine, Extensions Management, Etc.

Joomla 1.5 closed the gap and Koowa brought the framework to an entirely new level that Joomla could not possibly provide on it's own. Few months ago we have rebuilt our project (Anahita Social ™ Engine) using Koowa within 6 weeks, and ever since software development has been a much more inspiring and agile process.

Koow's syntax is actually much simpler and more flexible than Joomla's native API in the mean time it doesn't take away what Joomla already provides.

Koowa also reduces the core redundancies dramatically so by following the DRY (Don't Repeat Yourself) principal our methods have been reduced by 50~30% of what they used to be using Joomla's native API.

The database layer provides much more opportunities such as dynamic tables, rows, rowsets, and query classes.

Try following the REST architecture, Koowa controllers actually bake you a nice BREAD (Browse, Read, Edit, Add, Delete)

Views and templates are far more organized and your code end up being much cleaner and more readable for the web developers who'll be skinning your web application.

Koowa also provides nifty options such as inflector classes, magic functions, and many small surprises that make MVC software development a truly pleasurable process.

Bottom line we don't if we ever consider developing Joomla extensions without using Koowa. We think of it as the MVC core that Joomla has always needed!

When we started developing the 1.0 release of Ninjaboard back in August 2009, we decided it was the perfect opportunity to try the Nooku Framework and experience what it could do for us.

Looking back today I can say it was probably the best decision we made in 2009.

Not only is Ninjaboard 1.0 better than we ever imagined, with auto-skinning abilities, everything extendable, complete REST support, CSV exporting and more.
The codebase is also much more manageable. 0.5 got 20k lines of code, while 1.0 is 5k.

This helps us focus our resources, and spend less time fixing bugs, writing repeated code and more time on the things that made us fall in love with our industry to begin with.
Innovate, experiment and just have fun!

To me, Nooku FW enables me to go further simply because I get more time on my hands due to all the things it does for you automatically. You only code what Nooku FW isn't doing automatically, how cool is that?

Give Nooku FW a shot, the worst thing that could happen is that you finish your app before schedule ;)
