Finishing graphics and sound replacements

Over the last years people have been working on a free replacement set for the original Transport Tycoon Deluxe graphics and sounds so OpenTTD can be played without you having to have Transport Tycoon Deluxe.

Great input has been given for ... [More] both OpenGFX, the graphics replacement set which is 98% finished and still needs 208 sprites, and OpenSFX, the sound replacement set which is 76% finished and still needs 17 sound samples. With your input we hope that we can finish both of these projects before the next major release so we can include them in the packaging/documentation and thus make the first truely free OpenTTD.

So, can you draw, mix sounds or record sounds? This is the way to donate to the project so we can meet our objectives. [Less]

OpenTTD Useful 2.4

Today we updated openttd-useful.zip to fix some linking issues with the nightlies/trunk. We also updated the freetype and png libraries.
If you do not compile OpenTTD yourself or you are not using Microsoft's compiler you will not be affected.

OpenTTD 0.7.3

Today we released a new bug fix release of OpenTTD's 0.7 series.

OpenTTD 0.7.3-RC2

Today we released a second release candidate for 0.7.3. Primarily because a regression from 0.7.2 was found, in other words: a bug was introduced that was not in 0.7.2.

Future of the Mac OS X port

We are currently seriously reconsidering support for the Mac OS X port.

While most of the Mac OS X users know about Apple's new Mac OS X version 'Snow Leopard', only a few will know that OpenTTD does not officially support that version of ... [More] Mac OS X. Without anyone capable enough to continue support for the Mac OS X port we will stop officially supporting the Mac OS X port completely at the next major release.

We would like to ask whether there is anyone capable enough to continue the Mac OS X port.

For more information take a look at the related forum thread. [Less]

OpenTTD 0.7.3-RC1

Today, on the 100hth day of the year, we have released the first release candidate for 0.7.3. It contains, as usual, an assortment of fixes and a number of small changes that improve OpenTTD's behaviour in some error situations (primarily when files are missing).

Centralized User Account

As of today, OpenTTD uses a centralized account system, with LDAP as its backend. This means that you will have one account to use all our services. No longer you will have to remember different passwords and changing your password is instant over ... [More] all our services. From a management point of few it is also much better: we have much better overview in who has access to what, and we can fine grain it much better.

If you already have an account, we made it possible for you to merge those accounts into a single new one. The page at http://account.openttd.org/merge helps you through it.

After creating a new account or merge existing ones, you can use the following services with that account:
Account
BaNaNaS
Bugs
Translator
Wiki
Other services will follow in the future.

NOTE: tt-forums.net is not inside the OpenTTD domain, and therefore not shared with this account. Such link might be created in the future, but it is not planned.

As always, if there are any problems, please let us know. [Less]

OpenTTD 0.7.2

We have done it again. What? Well, we have released another bugfix release of the 0.7 series. This release changes how vehicle payments happen, so now you will get paid when the vehicle is unloaded instead of when it starts unloading. This fixes lots of 'exploits' that allowed people to get more payment than they should have gotten.

OpenTTD 0.7.2-RC2

Today we have released the second release candidate for 0.7.2. It contains only a small number of fixes and that usually is a good sign.

OpenTTD 0.7.2-RC1

Today we have released the first release candidate for 0.7.2. It contains, as usual, an assortment of fixes.
The most visible change is likely that vehicle payments now happen when unloading has completed. This fixes lots of 'exploits' that allowed people to get more payment than they should have gotten.
