Pet Ants is a social networking tool for Eclipse. As an Eclipse view it allows you to create your own ant's nest and add pet ants to the nest. You can attach messages to your ants which will roam to your buddies' views using various protocols such as XMPP. You can also import your buddy lists from Livejournal and Twitter and those ants will will change colour when your buddy posts an update. Another type of ant keeps track of your RSS feeds and changes colour when the feed is updated.

There is much more going to be added and Pet Ants will also expose some extension points so that additional functionality can be added later or by other developers.
