phpMyAdmin is a tool written in PHP intended to handle the administration of MySQL over the Web. Currently it can create and drop databases, create/drop/alter tables, delete/edit/add fields, execute any SQL statement, manage keys on fields.

Easy to use web gui. Best used for web services employing mysql database. Been using for quite sometime now on several servers.

phpMyAdmin succeeded in making database management easier. Its cross-platform compatibility is remarkable. However it did not succeed vulgarizing the technical jargon to encompass all sort of users.
