Where Windows is missing a ssh client, PuTTY is there to the rescue. I have used putty for years on multiple windows version, the no frills ssh client does everything you need. Can be run from cmd shell or from directly clicking hte executable, just download and go.

I use this tool every day and it's almost opened, since it's my #1 choice to logon to our linux boxes via SSH2. It's "basic", slim and simple, but yet powerful - easy shortcuts to duplicate sessions, copy/paste, save session settings and even X11 forwarding.
5 stars and a big thanks to the contributors of PuTTY!

PuTTY is a testament to compact application building. It is the SSH client that can do anything you need it to. It can recognize the most obscure keystrokes that not even GNOME terminals can pick up on.
All other Windows SSH clients shadow in comparison to PuTTY. There are zillions of features packed into PuTTY and it still manages to keep the UI minimal, aside competing SSH clients that tend to bloat the interface.
PuTTY's always been there when I needed it. I still use it even after several years of use.

This is definitely software that stays in the tool box. I literally could not survive without it. Helps me make all those server changes that are so very important.
Very good utility for connecting to Linux machines from Windows. with nice support for SSH etc.
I use it on daily basis.
Would get my 5 if it supported multiple tabs like gnome-terminal.

I use PuTTY most commonly for login with a SSH or Telnet connection.....
But I also use the Eclipse RSE for the purpose when I am using the workbench for my development works...

admit that putty's good for win users, but i don't like the way config is saved/loaded. when i recommend putty to my friends, none of them know how the save/load works. i know how to use it just because i'm a programmer.
the save/load in putty works exactly as if i'm save/loading files. how could ppl know it's saving as the name in input box instead of the one selected in select box?

Putty is one of the most basic SSH programs. My problem with it is that it doesn't remember passwords unless you know how to stand on your head, do a backflip, land on your head again, do another backflip with a half gainer and kick-twist, and land on your feet. Seriously. Because of that one tiny missing but crucial feature, you may as well find something else.
