Project Summary

Analyzed 3 months ago based on code collected 3 months ago.

Quattor is a system administration toolkit developed over ten years in the context of the European Grid. It provides powerful, portable and modular tools for the automated installation, configuration and management of clusters, grids and clouds running UNIX-like operating systems such as Linux. At its heart, sits a powerful language, Pan, for describing configuration. It can be used to manage non-grid servers, desktops, virtual machines and much more.

Developed to manage the clusters and services used in grid computing, Quattor is today being used to manage many separate infrastructures worldwide. From massive single-sites such as CERN to highly-distributed multi-site infrastructures such as Grid-Ireland and a few very large commercial companies operating hundreds of thousands of nodes.
