RubyCAS-Client 2.0.0 Released

RubyCAS-Client implements a client for Yale/JA-SIG's Central Authentication Protocol for web applications. CAS is a single-sign on solution allowing you to authenticate users for your web applications (Rails, Camping, etc.) against a centralized user ... [More] store (LDAP, ActiveDirectory, SQL database, etc.). Users only need to log in once to gain access to applications across multiple domains.

The 2.0 release represents a complete re-write of the old CAS client. The new version is lighter, cleaner, and more modular so that it can be used outside of Ruby on Rails applications.

Note that RubyCAS-Client 2.0 uses a new configuration format. If you are already using RubyCAS-Client 1.x, you will have to update your configuration. Please see the package's README.txt for more info. [Less]

RubyCAS-Client is a client library for the CAS web
single-sign-on protocol. CAS allows you to gain access to multiple web applications by logging in to a CAS server (your organization will need to deploy one -- RubyCAS-Server is a good ... [More] choice).

This version fixes a few bugs and introduces some new features. The most notable change is the introduction of the GatewayFilter that by default enables gatewaying. Gatewaying essentially makes CAS authentication optional, so that anonymous users can access a page without first logging in. [Less]

With a firm slap on the back, RubyCAS-Client is now officially out of beta. It's been months since the 0.12.0 release, and with hundreds of deployments no new bugs have been reported.

If you are using RubyCAS-Client, have a look at the brand new RubyCAS-Server project at http://code.google.com/p/rubycas-server/ This much-requested server will hopefully speed up the adoption of the CAS protocol since up until now the only way to run a CAS server was to do it using JA-SIG's Java webapp. [Less]
