A pure-JavaScript CSS selector engine designed to be easily dropped in to a host library. Started by the jQuery team but available as a library for all javascript engines and other apps. The project and code are now owned by the Dojo Foundation.

I have found Sizzle to be blisteringly fast with support for almost all CSS3 selector types.
The license that comes with it also makes it easy to incorporate into larger projects.
I highly recommend Sizzle to anybody that has to do extensive browser-side DOM manipulation.
