    Two More Website Skins Released!

We recently released two more skins (templates) for the WEC Starter Package. They are called Lily Pads and Warehouse. Like our other new templates for TYPO3 4.3+, they are released as TYPO3 extensions and based on the Busy Noggin, Inc. template ... [More] framework. If you host with WEC then these and other templates are available to you. You can view all our templates in action on the WEC Demo Website.

    Several Extension Updates

WEC has upgraded and enhanced several extensions recently including:

WEC Connector: The extension now allows members of a usergroup to be administrators. Also, it can be set so only members of a usergroup can respond to a post. We also added ... [More] RSS feed support for those who add the Connector RSS template to a page. In addition, we improved the CSS to be more specific and removed deprecated functions.

WEC Staff: We made enhancements to the Staff extension including the following. “Name” can be selected for sorting. The CSS is updated for 2-column view. Also, we removed fixed-width for 2-column so wider widths work better. We also fixed department-editing issues in the frontend form, and made a variety of minor fixes and improvements.

WEC Content Elements: We added a new file download content element, providing simpler setup than the Filelinks content element when used in frontend editing. We also added TypoScript register (FFSECTION_COUNTER) for tracking location within FlexForm sections. [Less]

Live Streaming Video of the Greater NJ Annual Conference

The Greater New Jersey Annual Conference is in session this week and WEC has teamed with their Conference Communications Committee to provide a live video stream of the event. The conference website uses WEC as do many of their churches, so it is ... [More] only fitting that the conference event website uses WEC as well. We also included a live Twitter feed that shows tweets with the event tag #gnjac2010. We encourage you to check it out.

If you would like to live stream your event or weekly worship then we offer live streaming services that can help you. We use commercial cloud computing so we have instant scalability to hundreds or even thousands of simultaneous viewers watching the video. It is an exciting technology for web-empowering live events. WEC Presentation to the Church of Scotland

Today, I was blessed to provide a Web-Empowered Church presentation to approximately 180 people from 11 presbyteries of the Church of Scotland. The event was held at Broom Parish Church in Glasgow, Scotland and hosted by our own WEC community member ... [More] , Calum MacLeod from Cardonald Parish Church. (By the way, check out his website. It uses our new templates and looks great!) The presentation was especially easy for me because it was conducted from my living room at my home in Ohio. We used Skype audio, video, and desktop sharing to show the live presentation. Calum set up a microphone and camera so I could see the audience and could answer questions. It was a joy to meet brothers and sisters in Christ who are enthusiastic about web-empowering their churches. Special thanks to Calum for setting it all up.

Please let me know if you would like me to conduct a live remote presentation to your church group. You don't need to gather 180 people, but 18 would be nice. Please contact me to make arrangements. I think we both will enjoy it. And more importantly, I think we can help more churches become web empowered.

    In Christ,
    Mark Stephenson
