Wine-doors is an application designed to make installing windows software on Linux, Solaris or other Unix systems easier. Wine-doors is essentially a package management tool for windows software on Linux systems. Most Linux desktop users are familiar with package management style application delivery, so it made sense to apply this model to windows software.

Wine-Doors 0.1.3 is now out! Grab it from our download page.
Wine-Doors 0.1.3rc1 has been released - hopefully our only release candidate before 0.1.3.
There have been tons of bug fixes, new features and packages added since 0.1.2.
If you find any bugs, please don’t forget to file a report in our
Fedora 10 now uses the cd label went mounting cdroms, so cd’s are now mounted as:
/media/[DISK LABEL]
Instead of like in previous versions:
/media/cdrom
This means you have to open up winecfg and change the value for D:// every time you insert a different cd, which is not fun.

There has been a couple of Solaris related bugs on the trac since I joined Wine-Doors, so I’ve played around with Solaris quite a bit.
I’ve looked into getting Wine-Doors running on Solaris a few times but I’ve always had problems with setting up a decent build environment for WINE and the rest of Wine-Doors dependencies. [...]
With the release of 0.2 we will be bringing in a whole new infrastructure and way of doing things, WDDB - (Wine-Doors Data-Base) and karma.
From now on all the information for each application pack will be stored in WDDB, so instead of updated lots of XML files every time we release a new wine-doors release [...]
