Today someone sent me an exploit for the Windows version of XAMPP: Using our xampp/adodb.php and a buffer overflow vulnerability in mssql_connect() the exploit is able to call arbitrary(!) commands on the targeted system.

And again we're on our mission to keep XAMPP up-to-date and put the first beta version of the upcoming XAMPP release in our public beta download area.

Sorry, the MySQL conference in Japan and my vacation came up, but now we're finally ready to annouce the next (and hopefully last) beta of the next XAMPP release.

New in this beta are: PHP5 (5.2.4), Apache (2.2.6), phpMyAdmin (2.11.1), and ... [More] eAccelerator (0.9.5.2).

The autumn comes, and besides of chilliness and early gingerbread it brings also new versions of XAMPP for Windows, Linux and Mac OS X.

In all versions we updated Apache to 2.2.6, PHP to 5.2.4 and phpMyAdmin to 2.11.1. (Find more details on ... [More] the specific download page.) I'm sorry to say, but under Windows we currently have problems with the new Apache and mod_perl, which doesn't work at all. We hope to find a solution soon.

Another great news: The Mac OS X version is now available as Universal Binary and runs now also on older PowerPC-based Macs.
