Giving new users access to your site

Depending on how you have your site set up, a user will either sign up themselves for an account (in which case they will already be in your database) or you'll have to add them to the database yourself.

If you then want to add permissions ... [More] to their account (say for example for a staff member that you want to have access to edit a page, or create an invoice for you) you need to do that in the PERMISSIONS tab.

This video will outline how to do that from a new account point of view, the process is the same for an existing account except you would start by searching for the contact, rather than creating a new one. [Less]

Posting images, video and photo's in XLsuite blog posts

 Prior to this, it was a manual effort to embed photo's, video's and MP3's in blog posts in XLsuite.

As you'll see from the video below, you can now upload, and embed images and videos right from the wysiwyg editor.

How to use the METAweblogAPI with XLsuite

We now have support for the MetaWeblogAPI with our publishing engine.

To publish to it from any program that supports METAWEBLOGAPI (like our friends here at flickr for ... [More] example)

All you have to do is point to the endpoint

http://YOUDOMAIN.com/admin/xmlrpc/api

then... simply enter your email and password you use to login to the site with and you're golden.

Replacing the CMS Components

 This is a dangerous thing to do if you've updated your website or changed any of the template pages.  It will delete the existing pages and replace them with the new template you've chosen to download.

In other words, unless ... [More] you're just fiddling around and trying things out, or you had some trouble with the installer when you signed up and need to manually update the template... you shouldn't be messing with this.

Pointing your A record from Godaddy or 1and1 to XLsuite

 This is how you set up another domain in your XLsuite / AgentXL back end.

Point your A record to our servers at 75.101.152.170
Login and go to ADMIN/MY DOMAINS and set the new domain in your admin panel.

And here is how ... [More] you point your a record to XLsuite if you're registered at 1&1 (the process is similar no matter where you've registered your domain, it's the A record only, not the DNS that you want to focus on).

you can view "all not spam"
be sure to also check your "spam" folder regularly
Select a non spam message and use the ACTION menu to train the system what is and is not spam.

Building a Video Site with XLsuite

One of the templates that is available for install with XLsuite is the Video template.

This template takes advantage of the RSS feed module to create a video site that updates with new content from YouTube (or other RSS feeds from other ... [More] video sites).

One of my "little side projects" is the " Traffic in Traffic " series that I do.

The premise is simple, it's a TV show (ok, web video) that I do while driving in my car.

I talk about how to drive traffic to your website, while I drive in traffic.

As part of building the site and using our technology to do it, I thought that I would do some screen recordings that outline how I used XLsuite to create a video site that auto updates for me.  Below are the results, I hope you enjoy.
