New XAMPP version for Windows, Linux, Mac OS X, and Solaris

The summer is over, but as a small consolation there is a new version of XAMPP. And this time, we were able to update all existing four XAMPP versions.

In this version we updated: MySQL (5.0.67), PHP (4.4.9), and phpMyAdmin (2.11.9.2). The ... [More] Solaris version even got a total of 14 packages updated.

The autumn comes, and besides of chilliness and early gingerbread it brings also new versions of XAMPP for Windows, Linux and Mac OS X.

In all versions we updated Apache to 2.2.6, PHP to 5.2.4 and phpMyAdmin to 2.11.1. (Find more details on ... [More] the specific download page.) I'm sorry to say, but under Windows we currently have problems with the new Apache and mod_perl, which doesn't work at all. We hope to find a solution soon.

Another great news: The Mac OS X version is now available as Universal Binary and runs now also on older PowerPC-based Macs.

Two of XAMPP's four main components were updated within the last few days and now we're ready with the first beta version of the next XAMPP release.

New in this beta are: PHP5 (5.2.5), MySQL (5.0.51), phpMyAdmin (2.11.3), and some ... [More] Windows-specific packages in the Windows version of XAMPP.

Merry X'mas with new XAMPP versions!

With new versions of XAMPP for Windows, Linux and Mac OS X we wish you all a merry christmas, snow on your server farm and a warming processor in everyones heart! ;)

In all three Xmas gifts we updated MySQL to 5.0.51, PHP to 5.2.5 and ... [More] phpMyAdmin to 2.11.3. But we didn't update Perl because the new 5.10.0 seems to be a development version, and in XAMPP we only support "stable" versions.

New XAMPP version for Linux and Windows

After two months of hard work we are proud to announce a new release of XAMPP for Windows and Linux. New in both releases of XAMPP are MySQL (5.0.37), PHP (4.4.6), phpMyAdmin (2.10.0.2), and OpenSSL (0.9.8e). The Windows version also contains ... [More] up-to-date versions of: FileZilla FTP Server (0.9.23), ADOdb (4.94), and Zend Optimizer (3.2.4).

With XAMPP 1.6.1 we tried to make the Windows version ready for Vista. The beta tests were very successful and most people reported a very smooth XAMPP under Vista but there were also people still having problems. Please get in touch with me if you also encounter problems on Vista. Currently please avoid installing XAMPP into the "Program files" folder.

Security vulnerability in XAMPP for Windows

Today someone sent me an exploit for the Windows version of XAMPP: Using our xampp/adodb.php and a buffer overflow vulnerability in mssql_connect() the exploit is able to call arbitrary(!) commands on the targeted system.

In this version we updated both PHP versions (to 4.4.7 and 5.2.2), MySQL (5.0.41) and phpMyAdmin (to 2.10.1). In the Windows beta we also fixed the security vulnerability published April 28th.
