OpenSSL vulnerability in Debian Etch and Ubuntu

A vulnerability involving predictable random numbers has been discovered in the OpenSSL packages included with Debian Etch and Ubuntu systems. This vulnerability affects all software which makes use of SSL/TLS encrypted connections, including Citadel.

Calendar library update for 2007 DST changes

Citadel users located in the United States will want to upgrade to libical 0.27, which contains (among other things) updated time zone information including the changes for Daylight Savings Time (DST) which begin in 2007.

Multisync is now supported

Johannes Schneider has completed a plugin for Multisync that provides connectivity to the Citadel system using GroupDAV. You can read the announcement here, or you can download the plugin here.

What this means in practice is that you can ... [More] synchronize your address book, calendar, etc. between Citadel and any device supported by Multisync. That includes Palm devices, Pocket PC, Opie, Zaurus, and many others. [Less]

Important message regarding Citadel with 64-bit Linux

Several sites have reported occasional random crashes of the Citadel server when running on 64-bit versions of Linux. When we debug these, we usually find that the crash occured somewhere in the Berkeley DB library. The good news is that we have also noticed that as of Berkeley DB version 4.3.29, this problem has disappeared.
