The Eclipse Test and Performance Tools Platform (TPTP) provides a set of building blocks for creating tools to test and monitor a distributed application. This include Java profiling and automated and managed test suites. For example you can do JVM profiling of a local or remote Java application. You can also record and drive HTTP load test or JUnit tests. In addition there is tooling to monitor system resources as well as collect and analyze log files.

TPTP is a good test and profiling tool set

    by Harm Sluiman

On the JUnit front TPTP is not a JUnit replacement, but when it comes to integrating and having a repeatable test environment TPTP provides a good base to brew my own mix of test support for execution and reports etc..
I have found the quick record and playback support for the URL test very useful and a unit test as well as to create quick meaningful load tests.
The Java profiler and various resource monitors for remote applications is ... [More] also great with distributed Java applications.
All that goodness said the TPTP weakness is scalability. Huge amounts of data bring it to it's knees, and once the project addresses this there will be no comparable tool framework IMHO. [Less]
