Google Chome fails Acid3 tests

I haven't heard anyone say this about Google Chrome, so maybe I'm the first. On a whim I decided to check Acid3 on Firefox 3 and it scored 71/100; then I decided to try Chrome since it rocks, and it scored 79/100. I'm really surprised that it failed, but it is still beta right?

If you'd [...]

Red5 and svn sync!

Well we’re finally moving Red5 to a new repository; googlecode as a matter of fact.  I was able to get the repository size increased to 500mb for future growth.  Paul Gregoire has taken on the role of moving the repository over and has been documenting his trials and tribulations over at his site.  You can [...]

Time is flying by.  I see that the early bird registration ends on Sept 08 which is in a few days!  Also, I’m getting some people contacting me about education and company discounts which is great!  If anyone qualifies for an educational discount or a company discount, just email me and we’ll get that all [...]

Hibernate Transactions with BTM

I recently had the worst time trying to get JTA transactions to play nice in Hibernate configured via Spring. There is a lot of information out there on bits-n-pieces of the individual technologies but nothing seemed to show the whole picture, so I would like to provide the community with a working example. The code [...]

IvyDE - Part 1

Some of you may know that there are at least two different versions of the IvyDE, the plugin which interfaces Eclipse with your Ivy files. To use the plugin with Red5 you will need the latest version, especially if you use Ganymede. I will record some screen casts to help you through the upgrade / [...]

I'm sure a few of you Red5 users will be happy to know that I have added support for the previously ignored ID3 tags. You will recieve them as the following ... [More] names:

I just want to say thanks to John and Tom for putting on such a great event with 360Flex! I had a great time, met some very cool people, and learned a lot about what’s going on in the Flex community. I’m now posting my slides from my presentaiton here, and I’ve also included a [...]

Red5 Presentation Broadcasting Live from 360Flex

I’m presenting in a couple of hours here at 360Flex (4PM Pacific), and the cool thing about it is that you can see it even if you aren’t here today! Ted Patrick just announced this morning that Adobe is streaming all the presentations from the event live.
Head over to Ted’s blog for the details.

Presenting at 360Flex, Flash on the Beach and Flash on Tap

I’m very excited to be presenting on developing Red5 applications at 360Flex next week. It’s my first time attending one of their conferences, but hopefully not the last given that I’ve heard so many great things about them. It’s taking place in San Jose, CA. If you are going to be in the San Francisco [...]

Red5 Video Tutorial: Object Oriented approach to setting up your Red5 Services

Red5 is quite a complex beast. Understanding how an application should be setup is one of the common pitfalls that developers of all ranges experience. Red5 was built using the Spring Framework, an inversion of control system. By using Spring, the Red5 team opened up the server to be as extensible and [...]

5 Free Red5Server tshirts - (Flash on Tap Banners)

Like any and all conferences there are banners for Flash on Tap. Here’s the deal. I’ve got 5 Red5Server (sponsor of event) shirts that I can give away. If you add a banner to your site, and I confirm it then I’ll send you a shirt. They are pretty cool [...]

Red5 Workshop, taught by the Red5 team!

If you missed it previously, Paul Gregoire and myself will be providing a Red5 workshop at the Flash On Tap conference. If you’ve ever wanted to understand Red5, there probably isn’t a better way than to sit down with two of the developers who understand it best! To think of it another way, [...]

Red5: New FAQ!

The old FAQ was created by me along time ago.  How long ago?  Well it was back in 0.3 and that must have been around November of 2006.  What’s that mean?  Well it means that the mailing-list has grown exponentially!  In addition, there has been way more duplication in answering questions than needs be.  So [...]

Cairngorm gone OSS, now how about tooling? I might have an answer!

Yesterday, the buzz hit the streets that Adobe was releasing Cairngorm to their Adobe Open Source Program.  I am a big fan of cairngorm.  I’m not going to go into why right now, but maybe I’ll express my opinions in a future post.  Regardless, there’s now some where to go when we have issues or [...]

Red5: New Location for Red5 Javadoc API’s

The old location of online Red5 API docs was getting stale.  Nobody is really sure what happened.  Joachim was maintaining them but he hasn’t been active in a while.  So I’ve taken the torch on this one as I’ve seen some chatter on the list lately.  The documentation is now generated once per day.  We [...]

Native code to Java

I recently needed to convert some C / C code to Java and I remembered a couple utilities which are supposed to do the conversion for you. These tools under the name C2J aren't especially useful in my case but they are difficult to find so I am making them available here. There are two [...]

SVN Repository Directory Structure

I was looking through the latest feeds and noticed a post about setting up repositories. This question is actually more common than you may think. Anyone who has ever been in charge of setting up repositories/projects/permissions has at one time or another wondered what the best way is to setup a repository. [...]
