Great project...hope you have lots of RAM

    by Micah Wedemeyer

Solr is great and very easy to get running with. It's hands-down the easiest way to get good full-text searching of a dataset.

However!! By default, it is a RAM hog. If you're running in a constrained environment (like a VPS), then you'll have to devote a lot of effort to optimizing and tweaking in order to get decent performance. Otherwise, don't be surprised when Solr grabs all your RAM and forces everything else into swap space.
