Zikula is a multilingual and W3C HTML standard compliant weblog/content management system (CMS). It creates an impressive, dynamic web site and provides the webmaster with a site they can administer with a minimal amount of HTML knowledge through a web browser.

It is secure and stable, and is able to work in high-volume environments with ease. It provides a standard API and extensive documentation to allow for easy extension of your web site's functionality through modules and blocks, with support for CSS stylesheets.

[Prior to June 2008, Zikula was known as PostNuke]

Flexible WebApplication Framework

  by kaffeeringe.de

Although Postnuke is originated in the world of portal software it has developed into a full-fledged web application framework.

Sure there are all the classic elements of a portal software: A not too small core package and modules for forums, galleries, news aso. But due to the templating (Smarty) and the systematic object library Postnuke .8 helps you create a complex web application in no time.

The modules serve as a basis ... [More] , which means you don't have to reinvent the wheel to have a forum but Postnuke supports many ways of customization and it is very easy to connect functions of various modules with core functions and your own custom code.

For simpler requirements "Pagesetter" is a module that generates custom content modules via point&click. For the more advanced use cases the API helps you achieving a rapid development.

I run about a dozen sites on Postnuke and I am surprised again and again how powerful Postnuke is. [Less]

Zikula really engage my Development

  by Mateo Tibaquirá Palacios

Find Zikula was a really good hit in my life. All the things that I wanted in a system I found them in Zikula.

Relate modules through Hooks, separation between the logic and the presentation, facility to develop, customizations of the look and feel with ease... a lot of cool stuff!

Places to share: The Cozi, Wiki, mailing-list and the support Forum!

I'm happy in the Zikula Community!

    Short core status report

Zikula 1.0.2 has been released on the 10th of August - which has been 40 days ago. This article sheds some light on what is currently going on with the Zikula core. It describes the most important recent activities and gives a preview to what will happen next.

Let Google Host Your Ajax Libraries

All Google conspiracy theories aside, Google actively host's popular Ajax frameworks, so why not take advantage of them?

A short look at what PNObject is

More and more developers are working with the cool util classes of the object library. DataUtil, DateUtil, DBUtil, FileUtil, and so on... most people recognized the important ones already. While also other technologies like pnForm, hooks and PageLock ... [More] are used, it seems that not that many devs are familiar yet with the object-oriented component model in Zikula. This article takes a look into the powerful PNObject architecture and what it can do for you. [Less]

    Back from Bingen

All participants from this years meeting (called Camp Zikula) should have arrived at home again - hopefully safely.

After 2004 to 2007 this was another interesting event with lots of lectures (about Content, OpenID, Location based Services ... [More] , Blanktheme, Menutree, zikulathemes.com, Module Studio), discussions (about conversion of the 2.0-trunk to UTF-8) and lightning talks (about Live Writer, the spanish Intraweb project, pnForum, Dokuwiki and the Extension Database).

Images and more will be online at http://camp-zikula.info soon.

    Stay tuned for 2009.

Just for the records: 5:0 :-) [Less]
