10th Sakai Conference: Boston

Greetings,

I'm very pleased to announce that the dates and location for the 10th Sakai Conference have been finalized. We'll be in Cambridge, Massachusetts, right across the river from Boston and just next to MIT. The conference dates are ... [More] July 8 - 10, with pre-conference sessions on the 7th. Note that due to US Independence Day, these dates are Tuesday - Friday rather than our usual Monday-Thursday schedule.

The official conference hotel, which will also contain most of the conference sessions and receptions, will be the Cambridge Hyatt (http://cambridge.hyatt.com (http://cambridge.hyatt.com)). It's a spectacular location and we will have a conference rate of $199/night, which includes internet access (normally $10/day). More information on registration will be forthcoming.

In the meantime, don't forget about the Sakai Meetings at Virginia Tech on November 11 & 12. Registration information will be created very soon and a separate announcement will go out when it is ready.

Finally, the proposed meetings in Berkeley are being repurposed to be a smaller working session, so there currently isn't a plan for a more general meeting in the Western USA this year. If you'd like to help make one happen, please contact me as soon as possible.

Cheers,

New Sakai Membership Options Available

Greetings,

I'd like to announce two new Sakai Foundation membership options designed to make it easier for the community to support the Sakai Foundation.

The first applies to Sakai Commercial Affiliate (SCA) members. As of July 1 ... [More] , commercial affiliate membership fees will be based on a sliding scale. Membership will be $2,000 per $1,000,000 in revenues. The minimum fee will be $2,000 and the maximum will be $10,000 as before. For existing SCAs, this pricing will apply at the time of their renewal.

The second option introduces a three-year membership at a 20% discount. Current membership dues for larger schools are $10,000 annually and the 3-year membership would be $24,000. For schools at the $5,000 membership level, dues for a three-year membership would be $12,000. This 3-year membership discount is also available to Sakai Commercial Affiliates, although a minimum of $2,000 annually would still apply.

Please contact Michael Korcuska (mkorcuska@sakaifoundation.org) or Mary Miles (mmiles@umich.edu) for details.
