Eclipse SQL Explorer is a thin SQL client that allows you to query and browse any JDBC compliant database. It supports plugins with specialized functionality for individual databases (Oracle, DB2 and MySQL) and can be extended to include specialized support for other databases.

The project started as a fork from the original JFaceDb project which has gone commercial and uses some of the core libraries of SQuirreL SQL.

cdrkit is a suite of programs for recording CDs and DVDs, blanking CD-RW media, creating ISO-9660 filesystem images, extracting audio CD data, and more.
The programs included in the cdrkit package were originally derived from several sources, most notably mkisofs by Eric Youngdale and others, cdda2wav by Heiko Eissfeldt, and cdrecord by Jörg Schilling.
However, cdrkit is not affiliated with any of these authors; it is now an independent project.

FirePHP enables you to log to your Firebug Console using a simple PHP method call.

All data is sent via a set of X-FirePHP-Data response headers. This means that the debugging data will not interfere with the content on your page. Thus FirePHP is ideally suited for AJAX development where clean JSON or XML responses are required.

Aircrack-ng is an 802.11 WEP and WPA-PSK keys cracking program that can recover keys once enough data packets have been captured. It implements the standard FMS attack along with some optimizations like KoreK attacks, thus making the attack much faster compared to other WEP cracking tools. In fact aircrack is a set of tools for auditing wireless networks.

Lecturer is an eBook reader for portable devices that not only displays the text in an easy-to-read font with adjustable margins and spacing, but is also able to read it out loud!

The speech output code uses the Loquendo TTS system installed on recent TomTom Go mobile GPS navigation units. Developed for the TomTom Go 730, it should also work on 930 models. While the text-to-speech component is closely tied to that platform, the plain text viewer is easily ported to any system with a Linux framebuffer device or SDL.

FreeType 2 is a software font engine that is designed to be small,
efficient, highly customizable and portable while capable of
producing high-quality output (glyph images). It can be used in
graphics libraries, display servers, font conversion tools, text
image generation tools, and many other products as well.
Note that FreeType 2 is a font service and doesn't provide APIs to
perform higher-level features, like text layout or graphics
processing (e.g., colored text rendering, "hollowing", etc.).
However, it greatly simplifies these tasks by providing a simple,
easy to use and uniform interface to access the content of font
files.
FreeType 2 is released under two open-source licenses: our own
BSD-like FreeType License and the GPL.

A font manager for Linux.

Fontmatrix is aimed at adventurous graphic designers and typesetters who need to manage hundreds and even thousands of fonts for their work – avoiding the need to browse overly long lists in dialogs.

Basically, Fontmatrix helps you to do three things:
* Activating and deactivating fonts
* Tagging fonts with sets
* Generating font “books” as PDF.

wmbattery displays the status of your laptop's battery in a small icon. This includes if it is plugged in, if the battery is charging, how many minutes of battery life remain, and battery status (high - green, low - yellow, or critical - red).

There's nothing in the program that makes it require WindowMaker, except maybe the look. It can be docked in WindowMaker or AfterStep's dock.

wmbattery can use APM, ACPI, or even the SPIC that is in some Sony laptops. With ACPI, it upports multi-battery machines, and can estimate how long it will take the battery to finish charging or discharging.

Mapstraction is a library that provides a common API for various javascript mapping APIs to enable switching from one to another as smoothly as possible. Developers can code their applications once, and then easily switch mapping provider based on project needs, terms and conditions, and new functionality.

Users can switch maps as desired based on personal taste and quality of maps in their local area. Various tools built on top of Mapstraction allow users to easily integrate maps into their own sites, and configure them with different controls, styles, and provider.

This project has been cancelled, nobody is working on it right now!2009-10-06: DO NOT USE PHOTOFLIPPlease don't try to use PhotoFlip if you're not a developer, it's not in a usable state! Softpedia has started distributing our ALPHA-QUALITY archive without prior notification, this was neither expected nor asked from us. We doubt anyone has managed to run it anyway since the required libraries are not available anymore.

PhotoFlip is a photo managing software featuring a smooth 3d interface enabling you to browse seemlessly through your photos, as if they were right in your hands. You can tag your photos, organize them into separate collections, customize photo frames and add background music while browsing a collection.

News2007-11-14: Development updateWe are working on a whole new codebase for PhotoFlip 0.3, our next experimental version. We chose to get rid of Gtk/Glib as a whole, loosing some really useful API functions but gaining in size, portability, and in the long run this will certainly prove to be a better option.

So what is going on right now? The new code uses SDL as its base input/output library. I'm working on a (great) OpenGL-cairo GUI interface which meets our specific needs for a fullscreen application with multiple tool-windows in it, a dock, etc.

2007-10-24: First version releasedWe just released the first PhotoFlip development version. This is ALPHA-QUALITY software and may DAMAGE YOUR DATA (although it didn't while we tested it, of course). There are already quite a lot of functions working, but many are still work in progress. We encourage you to test PhotoFlip 0.1.0 and give us feedback.

You can find Linux, Windows and source packages on the Featured Downloads list on your right.

In order to run PhotoFlip, you will need the gtkmm 2.12 (2.10 should work too) runtime package (it should include libglademm too) and the gtkglextmm 1.2 package. Under Linux, these packages should be in your distribution's package manager. Here are links for win32 runtime packages:

smartmontools contains utilities that control and monitor storage devices using the Self-Monitoring, Analysis, and Reporting Technology (S.M.A.R.T.) system built into ATA and SCSI hard drives. This is used to check the reliability of the hard drive and to predict drive failures. It is meant to be an up-to-date replacement for the ucsc-smartsuite and smartsuite packages, and is derived from that code.

Kanagram mixes up the letters of a word (creating an anagram), and you have to guess what the mixed up word is. Kanagram features several built-in word lists, hints, and a cheat feature which reveals the original word. Kanagram also has a vocabulary editor, so you can make your own vocabularies, and distribute them through Kanagram's KNewStuff download service.

KTouch is a program for learning how to touch-type. It offers you an easy way to learn to type quickly and correctly on a keyboard. Starting with only a few keys to remember you will advance through different training levels while additional keys are introduced. KTouch indicates the keys you need to press and the finger you need to use for that key on the screen. You don't have to look down on the keyboard to search for the key. You will therefore get used to looking at the screen only and hence learn touch typing much faster. Detailed training statistics help you to find possible typing problems (keys that you typed wrong very often). The program calculates typing speed and your accuracy on-the-fly and displays them while you type.
