(including fluid dynamics, hard body physics, cloth and hair), post-production with node based compositing and non linear editing, integrated game engine (with graphical programming, vehicle and rag doll constraints) and python scripting including an import and export suite.
Blender runs on all major operating systems including Windows XP/Vista, OS X, Linux, BSD, Solaris and Irix. It has sculpting similar to ZBrush©, is a full animation suite similar to Maya© or 3DS Max© ; has compositing comparable to Nuke, and full video editing. [Less]
Mesa is an open-source implementation of the OpenGL specification - a system for rendering interactive 3D graphics.
A variety of device drivers allows Mesa to be used in many different environments ranging from software emulation to complete

hardware acceleration for modern GPUs.
Mesa ties into several other open-source projects: the Direct Rendering Infrastructure and X.org to provide OpenGL support to users of X on Linux, FreeBSD and other operating systems. [Less]
Crystal Space is a free, cross-platform software development kit for realtime 3D graphics.
It supports Windows, Linux, MaxOS/X and more. Though written in C++, other languages like Python can also be used to write programs.
Based on a plugin

system it's very modular and extended easily.
3D rendering is done with OpenGL. Features of the latest as well as older hardware are supported seamlessly. [Less]
YafRay is a powerful raytracer, under the LGPL license. It enables you to create fantastic images and animations of a photorealistic quality. Below can you find the most relevant features which YafRay offers.
Python-Ogre is a high-performance, full-featured Python interface to the Ogre3D graphics library.
Python-Ogre currently supports all the functionality of Ogre 1.4, as well as wrappers for over 30 individual libraries:
* Bullet, NxOgre (PhysX)
... [More]
, ODE, and Newton physics
* 4 GUIs, I/O, sound, and a lot more!
This project is the successor of the original PyOgre project, created by Lakin Wecker in mid-2006. Much development is done on the Windows platform, however today Python-Ogre runs equally well on Linux and Mac OS X. Windows binaries are available, and a Linux package is in the works.
If you wish to create a gaming or graphics application in Python, there isn't any else you need apart from Python-Ogre. If there is a library you'd like to have wrapped, let us know! [Less]
Sylphis3d is a fully featured, cutting edge game engine designed to support all the latest next-gen features while still being easy to use. It supports all the features you'd expect from a professional level engine, such as dynamic lighting and shadows, GLSL Shaders, post processing, rigid body physics, skeletal animation, 3d sound, and more.
Moonlight|3D is a free modern, flexible and extensible modelling and animation tool developed by a small but dedicated team. The goal is to provide a tool that is capable of turning even the most advanced and challenging projects of artists and

technical artists into reality.
We understand that this project is by its very nature a huge undertaking. We have chosen to make clean design, good usability and solid implementation of features our highest priority goals and we have already successfully, albeit slowly, pursued that road for several years.
In order to speed up the progress of our development efforts we open up the project to the general public and we hope to attract the support of many developers and users, bringing the project forward faster. [Less]
Brahma is a library written for the .NET platform, to provide high-level access to graphical and general purpose processing on the GPU. It eliminates the need for a shading language, generating shader code directly from IL at runtime.
Fully customizable and configurable ray tracer written in C++. H-RT is a research project aimed at comparing popular and less popular light reflection models. Raytracer shall be able to work in Whitted's classic raytracing mode and in stochastic mode.

fracplanet is an interactive application for generating and viewing random fractal planets and terrain with oceans, mountains, icecaps, and rivers. These can then be exported as models to POV-Ray or Blender, or as textures to other applications. It uses Qt and OpenGL.
Entropia is an open-source C# 3D engine, featuring a very flexible and extensible architecture.
Qfusion is a game engine based on sources from Quake II code. It is available for download and modification for free under the GNU General Public License (GPL). Qfusion has helped to set the bar for many other Quake II engine projects. A popular

feature of the engine is that it is said to be able to correctly render the entire range of content for Quake III.
More recent versions of Qfusion engine also extend the Q3 rendering scheme to include per pixel shading support, soft shadows, other newer generation features. [Less]
