Update: I am currently looking for a partner for this. Are you a programmer? Interested in working with 3D characters in C#? Please drop me a line. Me email is my username at gmail. Wouldn't it be great if you could drop a character into an XNA game? Perhaps a character could blend ... [More] smoothly between upper-body and lower-body motions? Perhaps they could reach for something, but obey joint constraints? Maybe they could walk up stairs? This project, in a nutshell, will create an engine to control the motion of a skinned character in 3D. This is specific to Microsoft's XNA platform. Everything is written in C#. Current project goals are: A simple inverse kinematics (ik) solver (CCD based, not Jacobian method). This include simple one and two joint constrained solvers, head aim, and complex upper body chain solvers. Import joint constraint info from FBX into a skinned XNA rig Blending of upper body IK and lower body animation. An intuitive system for managing character motion (blending, re-timing, etc) Rag-Doll Physics A collision system for a moving character Hopefully this will be a starting point for those interested in putting an animated character into a 3D XNA game. Much thanks to Microsoft and their XNA team - they provided the skinning/pipeline code that would have been so much of a headache. [Less]
