OFX DownloaderUPDATE: As of October 22, 2009, Nationwide has unfortunately shut down their OFX support! This means this OFX client is now non functional as far as Nationwide is concerned. To express your displeasure, please visit this site: ... [More] http://betteronlinebanking.co.uk/dear-nationwide-internet-banking-ofx Nationwide are the only bank that supported OFX that I have an account with but it is certainly possible that this client with a bit of tweaking could be used for other banks. Please let me know if you are able to get support up and running for other banks as it would be great to extend the life of this project. The OFX Downloader is an API which connects to financial institutions such as your bank and downloads information such as your credit card statement in OFX format which can then be used by other applications such as Wesabe, Quicken, MS Money and so on. Currently, only the UK building society Nationwide is supported as I developed this code due to the lack of support for my bank from existing software. The plan for the further development of this project is to generalise the API so that banks other than Nationwide can be supported. If necessary, individual settings will be needed for each individual bank. WARNING: I hold no responsibility for what you or anyone else does with this code. Execute at your own risk; be sure that no one has messed around with the code before your enter your bank details into it. [More] FactoringFactoring is a word often misused synonymously with accounts receivable financing. Factoring is a financial transaction whereby a business sells its accounts receivable (i.e., invoices) at a discount. Factoring differs from a bank loan in three main ways. First, the emphasis is on the value of the receivables, not the firm’s credit worthiness. Secondly, factoring is not a loan – it is the purchase of an asset (the receivable). Finally, a bank loan involves two parties whereas factoring involves three. OBS: In Europe the term Factoring typically mean accounts receivable financing. Here the correct word for this article is: American factoring. The three parties directly involved are: the seller, debtor, and the factor. The seller is owed money (usually for work performed or goods sold) by the second party, the debtor. The seller then sells one or more of its invoices at a discount to the third party, the specialized financial organization (aka the factor) to obtain cash. The debtor then directly pays the factor the full value of the invoice. - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Factoring_(finance) [Less]
