It achieves this by using the Python programming language, a favorite amongst both newcomers and veteran programmers.
Unlike other bulletin board software, the X/84 development team highly encourages and supports modifications and improvements by the general public, and releases all code under the very nonrestrictive ISC license. A mailing list is available for discussion and support, as well as a public cvs server.
