[More] management software witch coordinate the wandering of the items, because there is no central library storrage and no one who check in and out the items from there. The system coordinates the handover of the book from one to the other person and gives space for issue handling and manage a trust level, new members might borrow a book or other small thingy but not a laptop. The goal of this project is to create a small-scale library management system with most of the key functionalities of a real system. You have the freedom to design various parts of the system, but the ... [More] completed project should meet the following requirements: A multiple tier project that includes a presentation tier with Web-based interface, business logic tier, and a data access and management tier. The library stores only books. There may be one, two, or three copies per book title. The project should differentiate three types of users: students, faculty, and librarian. Students and faculty members can check out, reserve, and return books, and pay late fees. The librarians have the additional privileges of adding users, managing user information, adding books, and managing book information. Faculty members can check out up to 10 books and reserve up to 5 books. Students can check out up to 5 books and reserve up to 3 books. Once a reserved book is returned, the system should display a reminder about which user has reserved the returned book. Faculty members can hold a book for up to six months, and students can hold a book for up to three months. One renewal is allowed before the due date. If a user fails to return or renew a book after the due date, there will be a $0.25 late fee per day. Late fees should be paid before the next book checkout or reservation. The system should support book search based on ISBN, title, and author name. The system should include access control functionality. Except for simple book search, login is required before using any of the other functionalities of the system. The system should be able to compute and display statistical information about book usage, including the most frequently checked books and the most frequent visitors. The system should be able to display the summary statistics both in text, and ideally, graphically (e.g., using bar chart) as well. You have the freedom to choose the attributes for each table/entity. At the very least, they should be sufficient to support the required functionalities of the system. The system should appropriately handle various exceptions originated from different tiers. The source code should include appropriate documentation. [Less]
