Renamed to OpenZone and moved to http://code.google.com/p/openzone/ Simple 3D engine that uses OpenGL for graphics, OpenAL or SDL for sound and SDL for other comunication with OS (threads, input, initialization). It is meant to support huge levels (at most 20x20 km). Terrain is specified as ... [More] heightmap, buildings and character use Quake3 BSP and Quake2 MD2 formats respectively. As it is strictly layered it should ease integration of networking code and split for client-server model (maybe suitable for MMORPG?) which is planned in near future. The engine is meant to be cross-platform, running at least on GNU/Linux, FreeBSD and Windows. However, the development occurs on GNU/Linux, so the development version may not compile on other platforms. [Less]

The best place to go to find out about Anachronox is the Wikipedia page. If you still wish to find out more take a look at the Anachrodox. No game assets are included here. In order to work on these tools you will need to either download the demo and work with that or purchase one of the ... [More] current budget releases of this game. In order to create a mod for Anachronox which others can play, you will need to purchase the game. This project currently includes the following elements: AnoxToolsA Python library which allows reading many of the custom formats used for various purposes within the game data. Most notably this includes a decompiler for the compiled APE game logic scripts. As of the 9th of April 2007 this can be successfully used to decompile all the APE scripts which come with the game well enough to allow their recompilation with the script compiler the original game programmers released. BspViewerA quick and dirty attempt at a viewer for the compiled BSP maps which come with Anachronox. It was based on a version of the nedu 3D demo/game engine which wrapped PyOpenGL. As such it is not readily usable and may require a bit of leg work to get it working. nAnachronoxAn experiment to create a viewer for the custom Anachronox MD2 model format using the Nebula Device 3d engine. It was taken far enough to exhibit standard model viewing functionality where a model could be viewed and rotated, so as to admire how much better it looked under Nebula than in the original Quake 2 derived game engine.
