This is an automator action using ffmpeg to encode the video passed as input into an mp4.h264 format compatible with iTunes and iPod videos. Just provide video files (from a finder actions, etc...) and the new mp4 files will be created. This might take a while as the video encoding is long. You ... [More] can pass all the format supported by FFmpeg (including flv, real media, etc.. etc..). It mainly puts together the ffmpeg decoder/encoder from: http://ffmpeg.mplayerhq.hu/ with tweaking of the parameters described here: http://rob.opendot.cl/index.php/useful-stuff/ipod-video-guide/ to create an easy to use Automator action. - A simple GUI for downloading flash videos from youtube and converting them to mpeg. Blog] WhyDownload videos from youtube to your computer Carry it on your iphone, ipod, psp, etc. for watching it when you don't have broadband Extract audio from songs, convert them to ringtones ... [More] HowDownload & run the setup After installation finishes, run medpiper.exe from your install directory Enter the URL for a video on youtube & the file name for saving the video on your computer Hit Fetch & wait :) Video would be saved in your installation folder (default is C:\Program Files\medpiper) or the path you specified in "file name" above MoreThe software finds the main video from a youtube page and downloads it as a flash (.flv) file It then converts it to the selected format (currently mpeg only) that most computers and portable players can handle Unchecking the download or convert box would disable the above steps respectively e.g. if you already have a .flv file that you want to convert to mpeg, disable download option. TroubleshootingIf downloader works and you see a '.flv' file but no '.mpeg' file its likely that my ffmpeg build didn't work on your machine. Send me the details, i'll look into it. Report issues here http://code.google.com/p/medpiper/issues/list Creditspython, ffmpeg, tkinter, py2exe, inno setup, mingw, & more Screenshot [Less]

DamnVid is a cross-platform application to download and convert videos from your hard drive or from dozens of video sharing websites like YouTube, Dailymotion, Veoh, Metacafe, etc. Basically, it's a video downloader and converter that sucks less. What is DamnVid?A video converter, first and ... [More] foremost. It makes use of the wonderful FFmpeg library, used in other software like VLC Media Player or Google Chrome. A video downloader. While DamnVid can convert local video files just fine, it can also download video streams from most video sharing websites. But what gives it the edge over other video downloaders and converters is that not only it does both the downloading and the converting, but it does them at the same time: it converts as it downloads, making the whole process much faster. A cross-platform software that sucks less. What isn't DamnVid?A video editor. While it can do basic things like change the resolution, aspect ratio, or volume of the video, DamnVid is by no means a video editor. A video player. DamnVid never plays anything. A media library. DamnVid organizes its videos into customizable folders, but it stops there. A DVD ripper. A stable program. Seriously. It just sucks less. Everything is relative. Download Screenshots [Less]

Using mencoder as the backend, converts video into a youtube complient mpeg 1 file. Uses python and wx bindings. This was just a quick hack I threw together for someone who prefers point and click interfaces. As a result, error checking in the code is minimal, and updates will be fairly rare.
