Kompostilo Typesetter is a TeX-like typesetting system forked off of ant and written primarily in Objective Caml and Python. It is not compatible with TeX, and compatibility with ant is not going to be maintained. The project is new, as of this writing, and not yet in a highly usable state. This ... [More] software is not designed to fulfill any commercial or academic need, but is instead meant for use in crafts projects such as making handsome PDF books and magazines, homemade greeting cards, digital art, demonstrations of one’s own or other people’s font designs, etc. Note that the author is disabled and so often will not be able to make the software easy to install, or to document it well, or to fix bugs. These restrictions might not deter a determined hobbyist! To get the code, use Subversion. The program code is licensed in the MIT fashion, except the Esperanto hyphenation patterns are under a LaTeX-style license. An improved and extended version of the general-purpose, LGPL-licensed Python-OCaml interface library, pycaml, is included in a subdirectory; you have to build it separately. Also needed and included are my own 'glyph-name' library for looking up Adobe Glyph List entries, and a few informal Gentoo ebuilds for support libraries. The name ‘Kompostilo’ is Esperanto for ‘typesetting device’. [Less]
