The DBI module enables your Perl applications to access multiple database types transparently. You can connect to a large number of databases, including MySQL, MSSQL, Oracle, Informix, Sybase, ODBC etc. without having to know the different underlying interfaces of each. The API defined by DBI will work on all these database types and many more.
Jifty::DBI is the Perl-based object-relational database framework built for use with the Jifty project. It can be used separately.
FreeTDS is a database driver for Sybase and Microsoft SQL Server. It includes an ODBC driver, as well as the older DB-Library and CT-Library interfaces. It works with tools such as DBD::Sybase and DBD::ODBC for Perl, and the Sybase and ODBC modules for PHP.
iODBC (Independent Open Database Connectivity) is an open-source ODBC driver manager and SDK that facilitates the development of database-independent applications on Linux, FreeBSD, Mac OS X, other Unix-like OS, and other platforms.
