A (currently proof-of-concept) suite of tools for creating ODF documents from XML input using XSLT stylesheets. The technology exists, but I hope to create an API for developers and a GUI for business users so that users can generate their own templates for developers to drop into their project. ... [More] The code currently includes a Python toolkit for processing ODF files, and a partial re-implementation in IronPython, but the goal is that any language with support for ZIP and XSLT should be able to handle the heavy lifting. A REST API and server written in Python, using the Pylons web framework Pylons. It's an abstraction layer for database management. Our first goal is to build the system using SQL but later extend it to use XQuery to support both relational and XML databases.

IntroductionDigital Camera really made the number of photos exploded. You have a lot of photos and you want to manage it in an easy way: Not only easy to add photos but also easy to share photos. Easy to find photos by various attributes you might give a photo. Easy to describe photos. Easy to ... [More] delete and recover photos. That sounds good? However there's still a not so short distance to achieve this. ImplementationIt is decided to use python and the python image library (PIL). Original photos will reside on disk as files, it's not going into a database. Sqlite3 will be used for indexing and photo attributes storage. This is a typical application of the "write once, read many." scenario. Photos can be hide by changing its attribute. And photos can be selectively backed up or shown trough filtering its attribute. e.g. Please show all hidden files. The photo galleries will be represented as XML files. And those XML files will be translated to XHTML files though the use of XSLT. With some simple HTML form and JavaScript support for the final user interface. The use of XML and XSLT can completely decouple content from presentation. And it will make it much easier to design different themes for the photo gallery since no necessary change in the back end code, only a new XSLT file will do the job for offering a different theme. And the back end code will concentrate on a well formatted XML file with enough information for further transformation. Current StatusThe code can now create thumbnails and databases, as well as generating XML output. I have just come up with a rough idea. If you're interested to contribute, please let me know.
