Dark OS Linux distribution is a (non-official) folk of Ubuntu Linux, the most used distribution by end-users, specially "beginners with Linux". Personally, i tried a lot of distribution, and the one ... [More] which better worked for me was Ubuntu. But Ubuntu has 2 main "problems" or things that I dislike. first of all, the amount of "everyday-use" software packages isn't very big, and many of them are "incomplete", for example, music player can't play mp3 files, because of no codecs present. The other one is that the artwork, which is something like "retro" (and most part of Ubuntu users think the same). So, i decided to build my own customized distribution from Ubuntu, which contains a lot more of -useful- packages for the "beginners" and "not-so beginners" who are tired of having to install a lot of things don't included in Ubuntu, and a new, modern, artwork for Gnome (plus Beryl). So, the main features and changes from Ubuntu are: - A lot of new packages, containing what i consider "everyday" software, and drivers, codecs, etc Ubuntu didn't include. - New artwork (Gnome, GDM, wallpaper, etc) - Beryl desktop effects engine, which provides the most advanced and impressive "look" available for Linux. - Specially designed for beginners, and for regular users, (almost) all you need is on the DVD. - It includes Spanish and English languaje files, though it's fully compatible with all the languages Ubuntu supports. - Live CD based on Ubuntu Live CD.
