[More] contains the latest changes that may not have been copiled into the installers yet. Please note that at the time of writing this, the software release version is in Beta. Expect a number of bugs here and there. Installation and runningInstallation on WindowsDownload the Windows install package Unzip the distribution to a location of your choice. Run the file "Install.vbs" and follow the installation instructions. A shortcut will be created on your desktop for the application NOTE: You must have VBScript script engine installed for the installation on Windows to work. If you get the error message "Can't find script engine VBScript", it means that the dynamic link library (DLL) VBScript.DLL is not properly installed on your compter. It is highly unlikely that this file (VBScript.DLL) is missing, so all you have to do is type "regsvr32 VBScript" in a Command Prompt or in the Run Dialog (Start -> Run). You will get a "DllRegisterServer in VBScript succeeded" message once successful, and you are done. Retry the installation. Installation on LinuxDownload the Linux install zip package. Unzip the downloaded package to a location of your choice. Run Installer.sh for a graphical installation wizard. A shortcut will be created on your desktop for the application. General RunningTo run the project from the command line, go to the distribution folder and type the following: java -jar KamusiProjectDesktop.jar To distribute this project, zip up the distribution folder (including the lib folder) and distribute the ZIP file. CustomizationAs from version 2, Kamusi Desktop has a customization file from which you have options of setting how the application looks, to setting the menu entries to words of your own choice. The configuration file is called app.props and will be found in the directory conf under the folder in which you installed the application. A sample config file is as follows: # This file defines the properties that are used in the application # Lines beginning with #, such as this one, will be ignored # Defines window decorations for the application window app.decorated = 1 #app.decorated = 0 #app.lookAndFeel = Windows app.lookAndFeel = Metal #app.lookAndFeel = System #app.lookAndFeel = Motif #app.lookAndFeel = Nimbus #app.lookAndFeel = GTK app.theme = DefaultMetal #app.theme = Ocean # File menu file.menu = File file.synchronize = Sync file.print = Print file.quit = Quit # Edit menu edit.menu = Edit # Help menu help.menu = Help help.restore = Restore help.about = About #MISC log.format = yyyy-MM-dd.log app.editor = 0This feature is still experimental though.
