Don't expect to find anything useful here! This is just a place for miscellaneous prototypes and proof-of-concept programs, before my ideas have fully formed into projects (or I have realised there is something closely resembling it out there, or I realise I can't do it).

SpindlitThis tool is designed to help you organise your stack of data CDs and data DVDs. It can create an index of all files on a disc, and make it searchable on your hard drive. This tool is currently in a very early state and should not yet be used for any serious indexing. This project aims ... [More] to provide a user-friendly graphical interface. If you are comfortable running programs from a command-line, the spindlit-cmd project provides the same file-system indexing functionality as this project, producing a plain-text index which you can search with other command-line tools such as findstr in Windows. It can list the files contained within archive files such as ZIP or 7z. So if you have a lot of zipped files on a lot of CDs, this tool can help you find what you are looking for. It can also extract some information from audio and video files. You might have backed up your MP3 or WMA library a while back, and you want to find a track by a particular artist. Only now you notice that half of the files are in a folder called 'Unknown Artist' or 'Unknown Album' and the files themselves are called '01 01 Track 01.mp3'. Well, often there is artist, album and track information within the files, and this tool can create an index including all of this data. It is written in Java and currently requires some knowledge of Java to run it. It is my intention to make this a tool that works on Windows, Linux or Mac. It also requires working copies of mplayer and 7zip. You can discuss this project on http://groups.google.com/group/spindlit-discuss [Less]

MplayerXP is branch of well known mplayer (http://mplayerhq.hu) which is based on new (thread based) core. Main goal of this project is to achieve smoothness of video playback due monotonous CPU loading.

A command-line tool that makes a searchable plain-text index of data CDs and DVDs. External commands can be specified to provide extra information on files matching a certain pattern. For example, 7z could be used to list the contents of archive files with .zip, .tar or .rar extensions. Mplayer ... [More] could be used to provide ID3 info for audio or video files with .avi, .mp3 and .wmv extensions. To see an example of how to index a CD or DVD, see the Example. [Less]
