The KDevelop project was founded in 1998 to build up an easy to use IDE (Integrated Development Environment) for KDE. Since then, the KDevelop IDE is publicly available under the GPL and supports many programming languages.

DrJava

DrJava is an integrated Java development environment that supports interactive evaluation of expressions. It is under active development by the JavaPLT research group at Rice University, but it is also stable and is currently being used by students, teachers and other developers.
