MPlayer is a movie player which runs on many systems and plays most known video and audio formats. Another great feature of MPlayer is the wide range of supported output drivers. It has also an onscreen display (OSD) for status information, nice big antialiased shaded subtitles and visual feedback for keyboard controls.

The FAAC project includes the AAC encoder FAAC and decoder FAAD2. It supports several MPEG-4 object types (LC, Main, LTP, HE AAC, PS) and file formats (ADTS AAC, raw AAC, MP4), multichannel and gapless en/decoding as well as MP4 metadata tags. The codecs are compatible with standard-compliant audio applications using one or more of these profiles.

This project is a modification of the SharePoint PKS system http://www.codeplex.com/pks to enable server side reencoding of videos. Since the SharePoint Podcasting System only supports .wmv files and the vast majority of media is in alternate formats there is a great need for this feature.
The S1mp3 players ship with often buggy, Microsoft-only GUI's for converting video to the AMV format. Our goal is to create the tools needed to do the encoding to AMV on all operating systems (including linux), in a much more configurable and scriptable way. We will use the FFMpeg framework
