My kids' grade school had a screen in the lobby for displaying announcements and showing artwork. [More] web site. I built this display system to feed off that so we only had to update one thing. Really any rss feed could be used to produce a slide show on this display but there is some extra stuff for making use of a wordpress calendar plugin and wordpress picture galleries. It can also use images or videos from flikr or from a local directory. I used some 3D transitions where the words of the messages fly around before forming the slide to jazz up the transitions between slides. To get people to look up at the screen I added a feature where it can act as a mirror. There can be a camera looking back from the screen capture images of the lobby to display on the screen. In this mode the flying words seems to stick to people in the lobby before flying into postion in the message. Lots of things can be adjusted using runtime arguments. [Less]
